Blurb

In this gender-bent, compressed production of ‘The Merchant of  Venice’, women will portray the complex roles they don’t get to normally tackle in the traditional male-dominated context of the play. Themes such as status, money, respect, Antisemitism and hatred of the Other will be tested through a female perspective, transforming the familiar narrative and inspiring new timely interpretations.

Bio.

Lara Vosburgh is an actress, writer and producer. Her credits include: Lead role in IFC feature ‘INNER DEMONS’; regular roles in international TV series; various NYC theatre productions (including ‘Othello’, and modern adaptation of ‘The Tempest’). Produced ‘Mary V’, a female-driven adaptation of ‘Henry V’ which ran successfully at TNC. An alum of Atlantic and Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.
