The play follows a group of South Bronx youth as they enter the world of serious intravenous drug use during the late 1960’s. This new adaptation presents a collection of scenes which center on the drug-dependent relationship of the two young lovers, CANDI & POLI, who find themselves at a crossroads between co-dependency on “Scag”, and the offering of a life with love.”

Bio.
Jesus Papoleto Melendez, award-winning poet, playwright, teacher and activist from East Harlem (El Barrio) and considered an original founder of the Nuyorican poets’ movement. Some of Melendez’s published poetry includes “¡Hey Yo / Yo Soy! – 40 Years of Nuyorican Street Poetry” (bilingual edition, 2Leaf Press, 2012); & “PAPOLíTICO – Poems of a Political Persuasion” (2Leaf Press, 2018).
