BIOGRAPHY:
Rakesh Palisetty is a writer-director for theater, film, & opera based in New York. Prior to moving to the U.S., his productions toured extensively across India, including his hit theatrical adaptation of Twelve Angry Men, which has garnered a cult following. His eclectic portfolio, including Winterfest 2023’s production of Soirée at Walter Benjamin's, draws heavily on post-modernist plays and ideas that seek to challenge the status quo. Recent directing credits include Hedda Gabler (Lenfest Center for the Arts); Much Ado About Nothing (Two River Theatre); Sky of Darkness (TheaterLab); Thirty-six Questions (Columbia Stages), and Bedtime Plays (The Tank). His Assistant Director credits include Misty (Dir. Omar Elerian, The Shed); Galileo (Dir. Michael Mayer, Workshop Production); and Kimberly Akimbo (Atlantic Theater Company). He has also worked with such internationally known directors as Ivo van Hove and Thomas Ostermeier.
EDUCATION / TRAINING:
MFA in Theatre Directing, Columbia University.
