BIOGRAPHY:
Kota Horiuchi (they/he) is a singer-songwriter/actor, currently completing their MFA at Rose Bruford College through the National Theatre Institute. Having lived in six countries so far, Kota identifies themself as an experiential journalist - they seek to celebrate the lives of the people they have met in their travels through music, performance, and writing. Their work also focuses on nature, having been significantly influenced by Shinto-Buddhism’s animistic culture in their youth, particularly in Australia, Japan, southern France and the deep Appalachian woods in Vermont. Kota’s debut album acorn is set to release in May. Their second album, bluegrass, focuses on the lives of the people in Lexington, Kentucky. As a former Division I tennis athlete, Kota is a competitor in the Action Tennis Series, a televised fusion-tennis event. Kota is currently building an acting curriculum specifically geared towards athletes to incorporate a Stanislavskian vocabulary to approach mental strategy and presence in competition.
