Daniel Halbstein is a composer of musical theatre, choral music, art song, and jazz. He is excited to have presented his first full-length musical, Humanity Denied (libretto by Alberta Handelman), at the New York Theater Festival this year. While a student at Westminster Choir College, he sang in ensembles such as Williamson Voices, Jubilee Singers, and Westminster Kantorei. It was here he became a brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has had many choral works performed by ensembles such as the Nazareth College Chamber Singers and Westminster Kantorei. While living in Rochester, he served as the musical director in residence at the Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, where he accompanied performances of "Me and Ella," "The Bikinis," and "George M. Cohan Tonight!" He also collaborated with OFC Creations, music directing productions of "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Bare: A Pop Opera." A current resident of Plainview, Long Island, Daniel is a frequent collaborator with Sunrise Theatre company, where he has performed as a keyboardist in pit bands, and occasionally onstage. Most recently he has played in the pit for productions of "Seussical" and "The Addams Family," and onstage in "Finishing the Hat" (featured singer) and "Guys and Dolls" (Rusty Charlie).
