BIOGRAPHY:
I was raised in the north suburbs of Chicago as Hemmingy calls it, “the land of the wide lawns and narrow minds” which I take slight offense to- I never had a wide lawn. Once I graduated high school, through a sequence of events and contacts, I found myself 9000 feet above sea level in the mountains of Taos, New Mexico in a Buddhist Monastery. After a year of deconstructing my ego I decided to assimilate myself back into society. I fell into a deep and great depression. In the depths of fear I watched a movie called Only God Forgives directed by Nicholas Winding Refn. That night I decided that, in the coming year, I would compete in a Muay-thai kickboxing fight a and be in a play. I won my first competition by unanimous decision, and acted in a one act at the local community college where I took acting classes. The Buddhist philosophy of non-self and the present moment nature of acting seemed to go hand in hand. I used acting as a way to creatively embolden myself and grow as a person. A few years later, I found myself at NYU Tisch for acting. The passion, driv is Hunter S. Thompson’s doppelganger. The passion, drive, and resilience I gained from my time as a monk fuels my utter love for acting as well as my life. I am excited to skate though the concrete jungle of life and art, I will have bruises, cuts, and road rash, but most importantly a sh*t eating grin on my face.
