BIOGRAPHY:
Kassandra Cruz is of fiery Venezuelan blood with a vivacious New Yorker heartbeat. She was raised in Queens and received a BFA in Dance from Fordham/Ailey University. She has performed on stages nationally and internationally alongside companies such as Ballet Hispánico, Body Traffic, Gibney Dance Company, and Landesbühnen Sachsen. She has originated and created roles for choreographers such as Fernando Melo, Anton Lachky, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Carlos Matos, and Fabio Liberti. As Artistic Associate with Gibney Dance Company, she created a mentorship program for young dancers who were entering the field. She led movement workshops focused on mental health and well-being, serving survivors of domestic violence, in partnership with Sanctuary for Families. She also led and performed in a youth-centered workshop, The Hands are for Holding, using dance and movement to center conversations about healthy relationships and boundaries in New York City public schools. At The Juilliard School, Kassandra has been focusing on her trajectory as an actor and theatre maker. She directed and choreographed a dance theatre piece inspired by the work of René Magritte for a Student-Initiated Project, as well as providing movement support for rehearsal projects within the division. Kassandra holds her MFA in Acting from The Juilliard School.
