BIOGRAPHY:
Chazz Giovanni Bruce is a polymathic generator born and raised in New York, NY. He pines to better understand and strengthen the connective tissues between physics, music, ceremony, movement, direction, acting and personhood vs. personage. Thinking on and experiencing an inner and worldly battle between the “Visceral vs digital” and what that means for our lives. Focused on how experimental art can help us think critically and creatively come up with ways to support, uplift, protect and positively-build up our communities. He's currently creating primarily through music, dramaturgy, garb design, and nightlife festivals & film-direction [ie: SPADES: the play, TheGardenFest PVD & Left3TV].
Focused on moving his work, thoughts & questions through the screen, “classical” theater and live music venue space in the ways that we’re used to while piloting his practice in new forums: performance spaces, galleries, historic, industrious and natural sites. Doing this all while taking and leaving a residue of the places he's been and the 'breath' of where he's going, along the way.
His performance practice has historically been rooted in music/education/movement and nightlife experiences with theatrical elements, costuming and staging. One constant in his practice has been exploring, postulating and deconstructing songs, dances, inventions and ideas of folks from throughout antiquity.
