Sacha Guitry’s 1916 four act comedy explores a married woman’s admirer who tricks her husband into leaving them alone; only then to talk her into a two-day affair, tracked scene by scene: a phone call performed alone in an empty room, a morning-after negotiation over coffee, a husband conned into a fake trip to Orléans, and a final letter she writes and burns before she can send it.
