BIOGRAPHY:
Melody Vargas is a first-generation New Yorker with Dominican roots. Her past lives include dance, writing, and--quite randomly--Education Consulting. Thankfully, she became an actor, then a mom, and is now (finally!) both. Her Off-Broadway credits include "Gloria" (Gloria Maddox Theater), "Small Mouth Sounds" (Gloria Maddox Theater), "Exit Strategy" (The Theater Project), "Almost Finally" (Hudson Guild Theater), "The Shotgun Message" (Mary MacArthur Theatre), "An Epidemic Play" (TADA! Theater), "Old Haunts" (Theaterlab; Robert Moss Theater). She toured internationally with "Bill W. and Dr. Bob" in English and Spanish (Costa Rica, Austin, TX, SoHo Playhouse, NYC). Past short films were selected for the NFNY, MFF, QWFF, AFNY, PBFF and the PIFF. You can otherwise catch her off and on as an Understudy in the current production of "Pied-a-Terre" at the Anne L Bernstein Theater.
EDUCATION / TRAINING:
Melody is a graduate of Hunter College High School, the University of Pennsylvania and of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She continues her training whenever possible with Peter Jensen at T. Schreiber Studios.
