It was 35 years ago, at 13 years old, when I wrote my first play and dreamt of one day seeing the characters grace the stage. Finally, in 2023, The New York Theater Festival (NYTF) made that dream come true. I got to experience the characters of my second play, Halston’s Amitha, written 21 years ago, grace the stage of the beautiful Teatro LaTea in a three-performance off Broadway production run. Words cannot describe the feeling. I am grateful to Robert Williams and the staff of the NYTF for inviting me and my production staff of 20 amazing, passionate, talented, and very diverse souls to participate. This experience gave me a trial by fire crash course on how to produce a play. And what a success it was. I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish and very grateful to the NYTF staff for their guidance and support throughout the process. I look forward to working with the NYTF again soon! Also.
